tracings of light marks the foundation of my work since 2013, when i began to push the edges of platinum/palladium printing. the process involves placing a sensitized sheet of platinum paper into a large, homemade wooden view camera and exposing it to a landscape of intense midday sunlight for hours. the paper, sensitive to ultraviolet light, literally makes pictures of what we cannot see – in essence photographing the invisible. the works include one-of-a-kind platinum paper negatives and high key positive prints, both of which carry a palpable sense of unrestrained desert light and the richness this process is known for.
